We are the Youth Guiding Youth Society (YGYS), a BC-based non-profit that believes in the power of volunteerism. Our mission is to provide volunteering opportunities to Grade 11 students, supporting them to become active citizens who help other young people. Our Annual Fundraising Gala for BC Children’s Hospital is a prime example of this belief in action. Every year, we invite a group of Grade 11 students to volunteer with us, and we provide them with the guidance and resources to plan and execute a successful gala that raises funds for the hospital. Our goal is to foster a generation of empathetic, responsible and compassionate leaders who can make a real difference in their communities.
Since 2011, with the support of our volunteers and community, we’ve raised over $275,000 for BC Children’s Hospital.
Founded in 2011, we began as Youth Helping Youth, a small group of entrepreneurs who wanted to give back to their community. Every year, we host an Annual Fundraising Gala in aid of BC Children’s Hospital, where we raise money to support critical care and services for sick and injured children. Over the years, we have grown, evolved and become the Youth Guiding Youth Society, expanding our impact and reach to more young people.
We understand that young people face challenges in their lives. We believe that volunteering and social action can be a powerful way to support young people to overcome these challenges.
By supporting Grade 11 students in becoming active citizens who give back to their community, we provide opportunities for them to gain new skills, build their confidence, and make a positive impact. We believe that young people are capable of achieving great things, and we are here to guide and support them every step of the way. We offer mentorship, training, and guidance, helping our volunteers to develop their leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. We also give them the opportunity to work with professionals, build networks and make new friends.
We also understand that young people can be vulnerable to negative influences and experiences. That’s why we’re committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where young people can learn and grow. Through our Annual Fundraising Gala for BC Children’s Hospital, we not only raise vital funds for a worthy cause, but we also give young people the chance to get involved in something meaningful and positive.
We’re proud of the impact we’ve had on the lives of young people in our community. If you’d like to partner with YGYS, you can help us continue to provide opportunities for young people to grow, learn, and make a positive impact in their community. Contact us today to learn more.
Volunteering is a great way to explore interesting opportunities, make new connections and gain transferable skills that colleges and employers will value.
By working collaboratively, our volunteers create a sense of shared purpose and belonging that can help to connect different generations, cultures and social groups.
We want to thank our volunteers, sponsors and donors. Every year, they help us to raise thousands of dollars in aid of BC Children’s Hospital and their mission.
We hope that volunteering with YGYS is the just the start of a journey of social action for our volunteers – and they continue to make a positive impact in their communities.
Our volunteers gain new skills, make connections and recognize the value of working together to make a difference.
When we work together as a community, we can achieve more and make a lasting impact.
We hope volunteering is just the start of your social action journey.
